A panoramic movie (or panorama) makes it possible for you to smoothly pan and zoom and look in any direction from a specific spot.
Object Movies allow you to grab an on-screen object and rotate it to almost any angle. Object movies can be linked to panoramas so that when you click on an object in a panorama, the panorama is replaced by an object movie which you can then grab and turn. The subject in the object movie can be animated (we can even make the propeller spin as you rotate the ship). Object movies can also be made to show a work process or to allow you to grab and move an on-screen object within a scene. Of course, most object movies can also be delivered as animated gifs.
Photography based virtual reality scenes consist of multiple panoramas and objects which are linked together via hotspots. You can travel from panorama to panorama and interactively explore the scene by selecting hot spots on the panoramas. These virtual reality scenes can be based on 3-D CAD rather than photography if needed.
Maritime New Media can create custom applications or a PhotoShipCD that:
Simply click and drag on the VR picture while still holding down the mouse button. Use the shift and control keys to zoom in and out (control and option on a Mac OS computer). A change of cursor while over the VR indicates a hot spot. A single click on an active hot spot will take you there.
